The porting project for Steins;Gate on Android is nearly completed, and it’s all thanks to I-VNTP team work. Every script and atchannel is now translated expect for the things that I describe on my previous post, such as phone menus, system messages, etc.

How to install:
1. Install the app from GooglePlay: STEINS;GATE
2. Download the patch: SG_Android_Eng_beta_1.0.5.zip
3. Extract files from zip-archive
4. Move files from folder “files” to to “/sdcard/Android/data/com.mages.steinsgate/”

The root file folder doesn’t seem to work..when the game shows the @channel entries its still japanese. I put the root folder in data/data/com.mages.steinsgate but when I do it, it doesn’t replace anything, it just places it there and yes I am rooted. Please respond

I’m very sorry about that mistake. For now @channel won’t work yet. We are working on it already.

Hi, I just downloaded the patch and it worked until now very good but I have a question.
How much (in percent) of the full game is actually in English?
I want to buy the full game but I don’t know if I’ll the full game is 100% in English. So is it because if it is not fully translated I don’t know the purchase is it worth.

If you want to play the full version of game – you should purchase it. Then after that you may install the patch.

Am I supposed to copy the whole folder ‘files’ or the separate folders inside into the Steins; Gate folder? Or should I move the files inside those separate folders?

Never mind that. I extracted the files from the zip archive, moved the files into their respective folders. If I don’t remove the original ones, the game stays in Japanese, if I remove the original ones, the game doesn’t start (when I tap start game, nitro+ and other names come and I return to the main screen where it says tap screen. The configuration part also does not work if I remove the original files). What should I do to make it work?

Well, that’s strange. Please try to uninstall the game, then check if “/sdcard/Android/data/com.mages.steinsgate/” folder was deleted as well. After that install the game and unpack files one more time.

I uninstalled the game then installed it again. I unpacked the files, did everything else, but the problem is still there. The game won’t start. Maybe I should just wait till the game is officially translated. I hope it does get translated.

Ok, so I downloaded the game, opened it up, downloaded the original files. Then after that I deleted the original files and replaced them with the English ones. After they were finished being extracted, the game just crashes. Now it doesn’t even make it pass the restoring transaction screen. Got any suggestions on how to make it work?

Think I came across something else (unless this is a possible ending). During the true ending, I get to when suzuha drags okabe back into the time machine and starts it(after he stabs kurisu) . Right after she “activates” the machine, the normal fadeout accompanying a chapter change occurs, but then it says “clear” for the true ending, and it goes back to the main menu. Is this an actual bad ending or a bug?

another thing is that there are entire parts missing. From 32:40 to 50:39 of this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79bgrQ9F8V8 is skipped over. It literally goes from “inside time machine” to “it was at a hair’s breadth”. The game ends and is “cleared” at 1:31:58 without the next scene fading in. It just fades out, says “clear”, and returns to the menu screen.

Is the new 1.04 patch supposed to translate @Channel? Also, I am unsure what should be different if I install the Android version with the custom .APK you linked on your blog after purchasing the game – should the phone buttons and text be in Japanese or in English?

In the patch 1.0.4 fixed minor bugs. And @channel will be in English only if you install game with the custom .apk. Some text (and phone trigger too) still in Japanese.

Thanks for responding, aloueunix. I managed to get the custom apk instakled but I’m running into another weird bug in what has otherwise been quite stable and enjoyable for the past 10 chapters in the game.
I’m getting a weird bug where chapter 11 doesn’t start at the beginning but roughly right before Okabe runs into Kurisu in the hallway. Then, when Okabe **SPOILER** accidentally stabs Kurisu **SPOILER**, and Suzuha drags Okabe back into the time machine and jumps back, the chapter seems to end and it’s marked that I have all the endings? I watched the anime so I know there’s more to the ending so I’m wondering if I’m missing something here. Do I really need 100% achievement s and all that to continue chapter 11 to the very end or something?

Just read the comments from user “a” above. Having the exact same issues as he has, so I guess it’s a bug! Oh well, I guess I’ll watch the true ending on Youtube, but at least you know it’s a reproduceable problem.

We don’t endorse piracy and we haven’t tested our patch on pirated versions. But, theoretically speaking, it should work.

UPD: Seems to be realted with voice files. Everything’s OK as longs as voice pack for current chapter is not extracted.

Hi!, the new instructions at VNTP is very confusing…they have a translated apk but it doesn’t seem to work for me. If i patch using the original patch from the app store, it can work but @channel doesn’t work and if i try patching from the translated apk, the game is still in japanese

I’m having trouble using this, What I do is install the APK i got form this same site, open the game and extract, works fine untill I copy the com.mages.steinsgate foler wich by the way is the 1.0.5 version, then the game just crashed everytime I open it.
I tried to copy files with the game open and suprise, it works as long as I don’t open any menu. But saving the game, accessing options, and closing and opening the game again made it crash the same as before

I’m having a bit of trouble with the installation. I followed the instructions given in http://i-vntp.blogspot.com/p/since-2009-steins-gate-series-has-sold.html. I’m fine up until deleting the game while keeping a backup of the game data after you open the app and let it extract everything. I copy/pasted the com.mages.steinsgate folder to another unrelated folder in my external sd card. After that I proceed to install the custom apk, then move back the com.mages.steinsgate folder to where the game was originally installed (internal memory/Android/data) but when I open the game to play it just proceeds to download all files all over again.
I was wondering which is the folder path I should use for this custom apk? Where exactly do I put the folder? I’m not sure if it is the same one as when I downloaded the original from the Play Store or if it is another completely different path. BTW, thank you for the exceptional work. Can’t wait to play it.

I found out the problem. I just needed to keep the game as it was. Installed to the default folder the game had. I decided not to use the custom apk you provided, and went ahead and purchased the rest of the episodes. Up to now I’m playing normally. The only japanese I’ve encountered is when the tips appear, but even then it’s understandable. Apart from that, will I be missing anything by not using the custom apk?

Without custom apk you’ll miss only translated tips and @channel logs.
